Academy

Porter Ridge Soccer Club with our continued commitment in providing our families with one of the finest soccer programs in the area, and is pleased to announce yet another chapter to our existing programs; BOYS & GIRLS ACADEMY ages U8 through U10 that are ready to move from developmental soccer into a curriculum focused primarily on development of skills and techniques. The program, as recommended by US Soccer and the North Carolina Youth Soccer Association, stresses player development over winning. Interested players must attend assessments for the program in May and are expected to commit to the program for a full year.

Academy players practice two nights per week in a pool format and may participate in the weekly supplemental skills night. Technical training, speed and agility training, goalkeeping training, combined with foot skills will be the main concept. PRSC coaches are former or current players; all hold youth coaching licenses and are compensated by PRSC.

The Academy typically plays matches on Saturdays during the season against Academy teams from other clubs. A balance of home and away matches are played. Most teams will play two matches on game day.

We strongly believe that our Youth Academy Program is the best development option for your child.

Fees for the Academy Program are similar to those for a challenge program and the reflect the higher level of commitment, training, and coaching provided to these promising players. The fee includes registration, uniforms, coaching fees, referee fees, supplemental training and field usage.

Challenge, Select, & Classic

The Challenge, Select, and Classic level of soccer provides those recreation-level players, who have the desire to advance their skills, an opportunity to play at a more competitive level and play other teams in the Charlotte Area Youth Soccer League (Challenge) and teams under NCYSA (Classic). These teams will also compete in state sanctioned tournaments. With this program, players and parents have an opportunity to experience Challenge and Classic level soccer close to home.

Challenge and Classic coaches and team selections will be conducted by Island Boosters of Union County. Please use the see the Leadership page for contact information and biographical information for the trainers and coaches from Island Boosters of Union County.

Lake Park (a.k.a Fred Kirby Park) and/or Hemby Bridge will be our home fields where practices and games will be scheduled.
