jenna_and_jaylinThe Porter Ridge Softball program is the only all girl sport in our athletic association. We take pride in teaching our girls solid fundamentals of the game with a strong emphasis on teamwork.

We are the biggest and best place to play softball in Union and Mecklenburg County. We currently offer softball for girls age 4 to 16. The age groups are 6U, 8U, 10U, 12U and now 16U. It is a great way for your child to have fun, make new friends and learn a sport.

Our athletic association is 100% volunteer. In order for our softball program to run, we need help from every parent in our softball program. There is a job for everyone whether helping coach, being a team mom, cleaning the fields or volunteering at our concession stand. Please ask what you can do to help!

CHARMECK SOFTBALL WILL NOW OFFER CHALLENGE BALL FOR THE ADVANCED SOFTBALL PLAYERS

PR will try to field a PORTER RIDGE ELITE team in every age group

In order to be eligible for Challenge play, girls must be registered on a rec team

There will be an added cost for this program

 --REASONS TO JOIN PRAA--

Many more games for our girls (more games against a larger variety of teams)

End of Season Tournament (double elimination as opposed to a single elimination = even more games)

Closer fields (overall average of over 5 minutes closer with all fields combined)

All Star Tournament (tournaments that are local saving parents the travel and costs associated eg. gas, hotels, lost time from work) Also Porter Ridge is able to field a team of PRAA girls only to play other All Stars

Our 8U program pitches to girls rather than hitting off a pitching machine (developing both pitchers and hitters giving them an early start at fundamentals they will inevitably need in the future)

PRAA Advantages over other associations include:

In an effort to give ALL the pitchers in our association every opportunity to excel, we have pitching clinics every Wednesday Night. This program is FREE to girls at PRAA and truly develops girls in all our age groups

Although we do not play in the Babe Ruth Softball League, ALL of are coach have taken the BR Certification Course and a mandatory CPR class. In addition, our coaches are mandated to a background check to ensure your childrens safety

Many added events such as PRAA Softball Fun Day (games and competitions for all our girls), trips to colleges to watch a game then go on the field and meet the players (2011 Virginia Tech,2012Appalachain State,2013 UNC-Chapel Hill, 2014 University of Georgia)

A 6U program for our younger girls that plays on regulation t-ball field vs other all girl teams. Started in 2008 and PRAA has fielded at least one all girls team every season since

Concession stand and restrooms convienently located right beside our Softball field.

Playground on premisis for younger or older siblings

PRAA continues to grow every season even through a bad economy. Currently we have over 150 girls in our softball program
